VPS hosting is one of the most favourable, economical and reliable hosting solution that fits to host any kind of large, medium e-Commerce website or any other database driven web based application. It is the best option for those who got seek from their shared hosting plan and looking for resource of dedicated but don't have that much budget.
Let's dive more into VPS mechanism?

In shared hosting your site is hosted on a single physical machine with the collaborative sharing of resources, it means each website uses the same resources like RAM, Disc Space and CPU. Your website will be using what will be needed if it will be available, and what when it won't be available; well that is the restriction of shared hosting. On the other hand in dedicated server your website will be only one hosted on the server, and you have all the access of resources at your one call back. Therefore, dedicated hosting is suitable for very large data driven web based applications and websites but dedicated are comparatively expensive for those who have shared hosting plan for nearby $10-$15/month.

The mechanism of a VPS is very simple and it works like a dedicated. In VPS you divided a physical machine into lots of small virtual machines; all these virtual server machines have some specific resources like a dedicated server and do not share anything with other virtual servers.
So, a best virtual server is a feasible solution that comes between shared and dedicated, not only in the matter of cost but also in the way it works. Like a dedicated hosting server, a website is getting hosted on a virtual server which has its own RAM, disk space; although, like a shared hosting server, it uses the same CPU with other websites getting hosted on the same server.
A comparison of shared, VPS and dedicated servers
1.Shared hosting uses shared RAM, Disk space and CPU while VPS and Dedicated use Dedicated RAM and disk space but in the case of using CPU, VPS uses shared CPU on the other hand Dedicated uses dedicated CPU.
2. Server level customization is not possible for shared hosting server, whether all server level customizations are possible for VPS.
3. All server level software's come with pre-installed status for shared web hosting servers, while server level software (LAMP, cPanel , OS) pre installation varies by provider for VPS and Dedicated server .
4. Typically full customer support provided by the service provider, while in the case of VPS and Dedicated server it varies and depends on the service provider.

5. Shared server is typically less expensive and suitable small scale website, while VPSs cost a bit more than shared but less than dedicated and most suitable for medium, large websites and data based driven applications over the web. While dedicated are the most expensive servers and mostly used for large business websites and web based data driven applications.
